Students Dance With the 'So You Think You Can Dance' Finalists (August - September 2011):
Venezia Wilbourne, Jade Woodstock and Charlotte Wareham all enjoyed a commercial jazz lesson wih Bethany Rose Harrison, star of BBC 1's 'So You Think You Can Dance' series. Charlotte also participated in a workshop with Katrina Ballerina from the same series!

Royal Ballet JA Success For Megan (June 2011)
We are delighted for Megan Raymond (who is in G2 ballet and a member of the School's Junior Company) to hear that she has been successful in gaining a place in the Royal Ballet's Junior Associates after auditioning a few months ago! Well done Megan - fantastic news!
We are off to London! (June 2011)
Congratulations to the members of the 'Electronic Technology' modern group who competed in the regional level of the All England dance competition and were awarded an 'honours' mark for their performance. The group were placed 3rd and selected to move on and compete at the National level of the competition in London in the summer. Wow - well done dancers!!!

Fantastic RAD ballet exam results through in Miss Cassie's recent set - all distinctions and merits! A special mention to Isobel Ripley who achieved a distinction at Inter-Foundation level. Excellent work everyone - well done! :)
Britain Does Variety (May 2011)
Good luck to the Senior Company 'Adele' Group who have got through to the Regional Finals of 'Britain Does Variety' at the Palace Theatre in Paignton - the group will compete against other local acts for a chance to win a place to perfrom at London's 02 Arena. Good luck guys!

Be a JA For The Day! (Feb 2011)
Well done to Megan Raymond (Grade 1 Ballet) who spent the morning with the Royal Ballet learning about their Junior Associates Scheme. Megan took part in a 2 hour class, where the children worked on core strength exercises, turning, jumping, balancing, stretching and much more!
Congratulations Bryony! (Jan 2011)
Massive congratulations go to Bryony Tayler, who has just passed her ISTD Advanced 1 Tap Exam with 91% distinction - an outstanding result! Well done Bryony. Bryony also recently danced at the Northcott's 'Exe-Factor' and received great comments about her tap solo from the judges.
Save The Date! (Jan 2011)
Our annual dance show date has been confirmed for this year as Saturday 23rd July 2011, with a dress rehearsal on Sunday 17th July 2011. The show will take place at Exeter's Barnfield Theatre.
The Future Looks Bright For Sarah! (Jan 2011)
Sarah Dickinson has successfully auditioned and has been awarded a place at the full-time vocational Performers College. She is also on the reserve list for Bird College, and still has a few more auditions to go before making any decisions! Well done Sarah.

We would like to officially welcome Sarah Carter to the teaching team at Charles Academy. Sarah has a host of experience and training in the performance field, and will be tutoring our new 'Song & Dance/Musical Theatre' and 'Contemporary' classes. ELF Charity Christmas Fair (Nov 2010)
Sunday 5th December - ELF (Exeter Leukhaemia Fund) Christmas Charity Fair - 10am-4pm running at both The Old Town Hall, Crediton and Moose Hall. Craft stalls, food and drink, kid's activities, music and Christmas entertainment!....We raised over £1000 for E.L.F - wow! Well done everyone! :)

Performing Arts Festival Success (Oct 2010)
Many congratulations to all the students that competed at North Devon Performing Arts Festival over the October Half Term. You all danced beautifully and should be very proud of yourselves! The results were fantastic. A special mention should be given to Charlotte Wareham who won 'Most Promising Female Dancer of The Festival 20 yrs Under' and to Hazel Sturgess and Charlotte Wareham for winning the 'Best Duet of The Festival' when they scored the highest mark of the entire week. Congratulations also to Sarah Dickinson, Venezia Wilbourne, Elizabeth Way, Georgia Harwood and Jade Woodstock who all achieved fantastic marks and placings. We are very proud of you all! Company Students Dance at the Eden Project (Sept 2010)
The Company students were invited to perform at Cornwall's Eden Project in the 2010 RELAYS Festival of Extreme Sports and Performing Arts. Thank you to all those who helped and took part.
Summer School Success! (Aug 2010)
We had 2 great summer schools over the holidays...the juniors enjoyed a 4 day musical theatre course and treated us to a performance of highlights from the Lion King. The 'Advanced Level Summer School' followed the juniors, where company students worked for a week to learn two new, exciting pieces of group choreography ready to be performed later this year.
Fantastic Exam Results (July 2010)
Congratulations to all those that took ISTD exams and RAD major exams in the summer term - another set of outstanding marks (all distinctions (A) and merits (B)!) Well done to all our students for their hard work.
Debut! (June 2010)
Our first annual dance show 'Debut' will be taking place at Exeter's Barnfield Theatre on Sunday 20th June 2010 (matinee 1:30pm and eve performance 7pm). Tickets can be purchased directly from the school. All students will be involved in the tech/dress rehearsal on Sunday 13th June.
MOVE IT! (March 2010)
A group of us are heading off to London's Olympia Centre this Sunday 14th March, to take part in the UK's biggest dance exhibition MOVE IT! Students have signed up for classes in Contemporary Jazz, Hip Hop with ZooNation, Contemporary Ballet, Tap, Musical Theatre, Lindy Hop and Lyrical Hip-Hop. We're looking forward to a really great day!
ISTD Graded Exams - Superb Results! (Feb 2010)
Our first set of exam students excelled themselves, receiving an outstanding set of marks (average mark 85%). The graded exams were taken in ISTD tap and modern, with marks as high as 92%! Well done for all your hard work during the coaching sessions - very well deserved.
ISTD Major Exams (Feb 2010)
A special mention must also go to Bryony Tayler and Sarah Dickinson who both took their ISTD Intermediate Modern exam prior to Christmas. Both girls are currently training to become dance teachers, and achieved a grade A (distinction) in this very high level exam. Their marks were outstanding - Sarah received 93% and Bryony 90%. Their dedication and hard work really paid off, and we are very proud of them. Well done to both of you and good luck with the rest of your teacher training.

Christmas Party! (Dec 2009)
We all enjoyed a great end of term party on Saturday 19th December that really got the Christmas holidays started with a bang! If you enjoy a good christmas panto, go and support your fellow students; George & Elizabeth Way who are currently appearing in the ELTC pantomime Aladdin at Exeter's Barnfield Theatre. Elizabeth also recently spent a day dancing with the Royal Ballet learning about their Junior Associate scheme.

Break-dance Workshop - with Olivia from Just 4 Funk (Jan 2010)
Many thanks to Olivia from Just4Funk who introduced us to 'breakin' in a brilliant workshop on Saturday 3rd October. Eighteen of you took part and learnt the basics of top-rock, footwork, back spins and freezes! We had great fun, thanks Olivia!
'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' Trip & Workshop - with Gemma Fuller (currently appearing in the UK tour of the hit West End show)(Jan 2010)
On Saturday 23rd January a group of us took a trip up to the Bristol Hippodrome to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The show was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and we were very fortunate to be given a back stage tour by Gemma (who was appearing in the performance). The children learnt about the mechanics of the flying car, the props and wigs, and got a first hand sneak preview of how it must feel to perform on such a large stage and in a West End show! The trip was then followed by a great workshop by Gemma on the Sunday, where we learnt a samba routine directly from the show. What a fantastic, fun and energetic weekend we had! Thank you Gemma for giving up your time to be with us, we all really enjoyed it!
